Licensing of Inova's ISELED and ILaS technology to Taiwanese LED manufacturer Lextar underpins the innovative strength of the Munich-based semiconductor company
Munich, Germany, November 25, 2024 – Inova Semiconductors has secured sixth place among the most “Innovative Companies 2024” in Germany in an exclusive study by the SZ Institute, part of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. According to the ranking, which is based on a comprehensive analysis of 2,346 companies, the Munich-based semiconductor company has established itself in the top group of future-oriented companies in the country. A recent licence agreement with Taiwanese LED manufacturer Lextar underlines Inova Semiconductors' innovative strength.
Lextar and Inova transform automotive lighting
Inova Semiconductors and Lextar, a subsidiary of Ennostar, have signed a license agreement under which Inova will provide its ISELED and ILaS-IP technology to Lextar. This license agreement underscores Inova's commitment to push technological boundaries and deliver cutting-edge solutions for the next generation of automotive interactive lighting applications. By leveraging Inova's essential IP and cutting-edge technology, Lextar will unveil a new generation of smart LED packages to the market. The new products will revolutionize both indoor and outdoor lighting applications.
“The renewed award from the SZ Institute and the granting of the license to Lextar are further evidence of our consistent commitment to innovation and sustainable development,” says Robert Isele, CEO of Inova Semiconductors. “The partnership with Lextar aims to expand the automotive ambient lighting ecosystem, ensuring the maturity of ISELED applications both inside and outside vehicles. Both companies also plan to launch new products in the first quarter of 2026, with their ICs and packages receiving AEC-Q100 and AEC-Q120 certifications, respectively, writing a new chapter for ISELED.”
ISELED and IlaS technologies
ISELED is the first technology to build smart LEDs for automotive applications. It is used by numerous car manufacturers worldwide. ILaS makes it possible to network ISELED LEDs and connect all interior lighting systems via cable. This enables the implementation of complete, hardware-only lighting systems in the car that can be centrally controlled and easily integrated into existing and future E/E architectures.
Methodology of the SZ analysis
The ranking was carried out for the third time by Creditreform on behalf of the SZ Institute. For the study, specific criteria were defined that a company had to fulfill to be included in the analysis. A total of 2,346 companies were identified based on these criteria. Of these, 272 companies were identified as being particularly innovative, including once again Inova Semiconductors. Entitled “Innovation: The key to success”, the results of the entire ranking were announced in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, issue 251/2024 and published online.
